On Friday, December 4th, Santa Claus himself will be in Bar Harbor to officially kick off the holiday season! On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, sales will be happening at shops throughout the downtown.
December 4 through 6 in Bar Harbor will be the time to kick your holiday shopping into high gear! The Village Holidays Sale will be your chance to get out and check off items on your gift list. With our local shops having reduced customer capacity this year, the usual Midnight Madness Sale will be spread out over three days to give everyone a chance to shop safely. Grab all your gifts at discounted prices on December 4th, 5th, and 6th! For a list of participating shops, their store hours, and discounts being offered click here.
On Friday evening, Saint Nick will ride through downtown on a horse-drawn carriage and wave hello to all the families who come out to welcome him. Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, things will be a bit different this year, so he won’t be able to greet everyone at the YMCA, but we hope you’ll line the streets – at a safe distance from others and wearing your masks – to show your holiday cheer!
Friday’s procession will commence at roughly 5:30 pm on lower Main Street heading north toward the Village Green, turn left onto Cottage Street, then travel onto Eden Street (Rt. 3), and make a left onto Mount Desert Street before finally turning right onto Main Street and finishing at Park Street. Please park your car along the route and stay inside until Santa approaches or, if you are walking into town, space out on the sidewalk to allow plenty of room between your party and others around you.
Following closely behind Santa will be elves from the Bar Harbor Food Pantry who will be collecting donations for families in need this holiday season. So, please, if you’re able, bring at least one non-perishable food item to contribute, which you can place directly into their carts. Please refrain from putting any items in bags.
Come out and join us – at a distance – as we welcome Santa Claus to Bar Harbor on December 4th. And be sure to do your holiday shopping at our local shops all weekend long!
