Ever wondered how a particular artist used watercolors to achieve a particular effect? It will be covered in this class! Helen Messemer, an acclaimed Maine artist will walk you through this Lubec Lighthouse project; teaching you about watercolor tools and techniques along the way.
You will learn about:
Japanese watercolor traditions, Chinese watercolor techniques, wet mount, dry mount, dry brush, special watercolor brushes such as a grainer and a filbert; free flow watercolor, creating unique textures with materials like saran wrap, aluminum foil, sponges, salt, and more. You'll learn different ways to apply lines and color with pen & ink as well.
This will all fit into 1 class! And you will bring all the techniques learned in this class together into a stunning watercolor portrait of Lubec Lighthouse against a Night Sky.
