Pet of the week: Mako (6/12/2025)

"Our favorite goofball is back in the spotlight! Mako is Pet of the MONTH, and this time his adoption fee is fully covered thanks to the generosity of Horch Roofing. Their employees voted on Pet of the Month, and Mako stole their hearts!

Mako is a 2-year-old white shepherd-husky mix (we think… he might also be part pogo stick). He’s full of energy, personality, and hilarious antics. He’s the kind of dog who makes life anything but boring. His daily agenda? Zoom around, explore everything, and then crash hard for some serious snuggle time. Once he gets his energy out, Mako turns into a total cuddle bug and would love nothing more than to curl up next to his person.

Mako adores other dogs — especially big ones who can keep up with his play style. A well-matched dog friend would make his day (and probably help burn off some of that energy too). He’d thrive in an active home with someone who’s dog-savvy and ready to guide him with structure, patience, and lots of fun.

Despite a rough start in life, Mako is all love and goofiness. He’s sweet, hilarious, and totally unaware that he weighs 70 pounds. He does wear a muzzle in new situations and when meeting new people - not because he’s mean, but because he’s so excited to greet friends and he lets his mouth lead the way. For dogs like Mako, a muzzle says: 'I’m super excited to meet you, and this helps me do it right!”.
