The history of Bar Harbor is beautifully exhibited at the La Rochelle Mansion and Museum, a 1902 waterside mansion in the historic West Street District. La Rochelle is one of the best preserved mansions remaining from the gilded age in Northern New England. It is an architectural gem sitting on the shorefront of Bar Harbor. See and hear about the area’s discovery and settlement, the Town of Bar Harbor, the wealthy and famous who summered here, the creation of Acadia National Park, the Great Fire of 1947 and much more.
