    Public Relations Manager

    The Bar Harbor Historical Society Public Relations Manager will be passionate about dynamically engaging the community. They will manage the public-facing materials; including the website, promotional materials, and social media platforms. They will be part of a close-knit team working to preserve, interpret, and display the rich history of Bar Harbor. This position will work closely with the Development Team to support the organization’s development effort and promote BHHS and the La Rochelle Museum, ensuring a consistent presentation of BHHS’s core values and mission.

     

    Qualifications for this position include:

    • Must love history and the Town of Bar Harbor
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • 2-3 years in communications or marketing roles including social media platforms
    • Knowledge or willingness to learn WordPress 
    • Polished writing and verbal skills
    • High attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Ability to handle multiple projects independently, and still be part of the larger team
    • Proficient in design software, Adobe Creative Suite preferred 
     

    Compensation ranges from $42,000 - $50,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience, within budgetary constraints. This is a full-time position with paid vacation, dental, vision, long-term and short-term disability, and group life insurance.

    Roles and responsibilities include:

    • Developing content and materials for all BHHS advertising
    • Work with the Experience Manager to implement marketing and ticket sales for all programming
    • Drafting and distribution of press releases and other communications as needed
    • Create engaging marketing campaigns for programs, classes, and events 
    • Creation and implementation of the marketing strategy 
    • Support and comply with all copyright and intellectual property regulations
    • Act as the liaison between BHHS and the business community
    • Attend networking events as the BHHS representative
    • Ensure events and programs are on community calendars 
    • Maintain the marketing calendar for the organization 
    • Create content for and manage all social media accounts 
    • Refreshing, updating, and adding content to our WordPress website
    • Produce and send newsletters and annual reports
    • Design and produce invitations, mailings, and other member/donor materials 
    • Work with other departments and committees to ensure consistent messaging in all outward-facing materials
    • Assist with the annual fund drive and other fundraising activities 
    • Be the public point of contact for events, classes, and programming
