Learn more about the history of radio with Paul Dupuis, the general sales manager and on-air morning show host at Star 97.7, during a talk at the YWCA MDI on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 10:30 p.m. This event is happening during the MDI Coffee House at the YWCA MDI, which begins 9:30 a.m.
Dupuis will speak about the history of radio from the 1940s to the 1970s. He will bring samples of songs from those decades as well as commercial jingles and news bulletins from the time to play for attendees. Dupuis will also talk about how radio has changed over the years and how it remains relevant today.
Dupuis calls himself a “radio geek.” He has spent 28 years on the radio in Maine and has spent most of his time in the Bangor area. Dupuis also enjoys sharing his love for the radio business, and he has taught several radio courses at the New England School of Communications at Husson University.
This event is part of Age By Design and is co-sponsored by the Jesup Memorial Library, Island Connections, the YWCA MDI and the MDI Hospital. Age By Design is a series of programs and community discussions that explore various facets of life for those older than 50 and create opportunities for community get-togethers.
