    Businesses in Bar Harbor and around Mount Desert Island will feature their infamous delicacies, treats, crafts, jewelry, and more. This is your chance to experience all that makes Maine unique! The list of participating businesses is available below.


    As always, the safety of visitors, residents and employees continues to be our top priority. Here are a few ways we are working to provide a safe experience for all:

    La Rochelle is one of the best preserved mansions remaining from the gilded age in Northern New England. The history of Bar Harbor and MDI is beautifully exhibited at this 1902 waterside mansion listed on the National Register of Historic Places. See and hear about the area’s discovery and settlement, the Town of Bar Harbor, the wealthy and famous who summered here, the creation of Acadia National Park, the Great Fire of ‘47, and much more!

    The Museum is open Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and selected holidays. We follow State of Maine and CDC protocols to ensure a safe and healthy museum experience for our guests, volunteers, and staff. The guidelines may be read in full on our website. 

    During Made Maine It week, we are offering museum guests that purchase two entry tickets or more a free DVD copy of either the Fire of ‘47 or Consolidation movies. Both documentary films were produced by the BHHS and shot and edited on MDI ($20 value).
