Join students from Conners Emerson as they showcase their storytelling skills at the Jesup Memorial Library on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 3:30 p.m.
The students have spent the six weeks working on oral storytelling with Andrew Simon of the Barn Arts Collective as part of “The Write Stuff: A Program to Nurture Tomorrow’s Story Makers.” The Write Stuff is a collaborative program between Conners Emerson School, MDI High School, and the Jesup Memorial Library that is funded by a grant from the Maine State Library. The program is designed to help kids become storytellers in three different ways, orally, in writing and through poetry.
The next workshop will be 7 weeks covering written storytelling beginning in January and led by award-winning, New York times bestselling children’s author Carrie Jones, and the third part will be 7 weeks of poetry beginning in March and led by Nicole Cardano, who has taught drama, show choir and improvisation at local schools and community programs. Students can sign up for all three sessions or just one session if they choose.
