Explore the land of Patagonia at a talk and slideshow with photographer Robert Thayer at the Jesup Memorial Library on Friday, May 25 at 7 p.m. Thayer and his wife, Linda, visited this region at the southern end of South America which is bordered by the ocean on three sides and the Colorado and Barrancas rivers and the Reloncaví Estuary to the north. While there they crisscrossed the area going from Santiago, Chile to the tip of Cape Horn and then ending in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Patagonia, which was named by explorer Ferdinand Magellan in 1520, is known for its wild and spectacular landscape filled with mountains, deserts, grasslands, lakes and rivers that is almost at the end of the world. Thayer’s presentations include a talk along with a slideshow of his photos set to music.
