Join representatives from organizations on MDI to learn more about how you can lessen your cognitive decline as you age at a special information fair as part of Age By Design on Saturday, June 16 at 1:30 p.m. at the Jesup Memorial Library.
June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month and in recognition, there will be a special information fair with 10 stations set up around the library, where participants can learn different ways to boost brain health. There will be representatives from all four Age By Design cosponsors, the Jesup, Island Connections, the YWCA MDI and the MDI YMCA on hand, as well as Peter Sullivan, the executive director of Birch Bay Village. There will also be information from MDI Adult Education and fitness instructor Susan Sassaman.
The stations are: Break a Sweat (exercising); Hit the Books (reading and education); Butt Out (quitting smoking); Follow Your Heart (decreaseing your risk of heart problems); Heads Up! (decreasing your risk of head injury); Fuel Up Right (eating healthy) Catch Some Zzz's (getting enough sleep); Take Care of Your Mental Health; Buddy Up (staying social); and Stump Yourself (challenging your mind).
