Visitor Services & Membership Development Manager
Posted: 09/18/2024The Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce is seeking an individual to join our team as our Visitor Services & Membership Development Manager. The Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce represents members from nearly 400 independent businesses and helps thousands each year as part of its services. Services include assisting more than 100,000 visitors annually at its Visitor Information Center and Information Kiosk and producing and distributing 100,000 planning guidebooks annually through trade shows, mailings, and information centers.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Visitor Services & Membership Development Manager is primarily responsible for the management of the Chamber's visitor services and assistance in the delivery of membership value through adherence to the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce's mission statement of advancing our members' interests and prosperity while facilitating relationships that build strong communities and promote responsible tourism.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Oversee the Chamber's visitor services operations. This is accomplished through enhancing the visitor experience by fielding phone calls, emails, social media messages, and in-person requests for information on Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and surrounding areas.
- Responsible for hiring, training, managing, and successfully developing Visitor Service Associate staff ensuring customer service standards are consistently met and exceeded.
- Manage the distribution of the Chamber's annual guidebook publication to partners, businesses, AAA offices, and individuals.
- Foster relationships with members of the Chamber to advance the Chamber's mission.
- Represent the Chamber during trainings, conferences, and seminars for Bar Harbor.
- Other duties needed to help fulfill our mission and abide by our organization's values.
- General knowledge of Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and the Mount Desert Island area.
- 3 years minimum of experience in hospitality, visitor services, or a related field.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Experience in managing/supervising staff and encouraging positive team environments.
- Must work well both individually and in a team environment.
- Community-oriented.
- Proficient in Google Workspace Suite and Microsoft Office Suite products including Gmail, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
- Comfortability learning and working with systems such as the Chamber's customer relationship management database and USPS's bulk mailing system.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability to work evenings, early mornings, holidays, and weekends as needed.
This is a full-time hourly, non-exempt position with annual wages starting in the mid-$40k range. The offer will be commensurate with experience. Employee benefits include vacation, personal, and sick leave, paid holidays, and a retirement contribution plan with employer match. Employee benefits also include an option to participate in employer-subsidized health insurance. The position requires an estimated 40-hour work schedule per week. This position does not include employee housing.

The position will be primarily based in downtown Bar Harbor.
