Rise and Connect - Wednesdays at 8:00 and Sundays at 9:00
Wake up and connect the body and heart/mind with a slow, breath to movement flow. This gentle/moderate class (you choose the intensity) is designed with the foundational poses that make up a well-rounded asana practice, and all cues include breath and movement. Focus is placed on safe and effective alignment (without any hands on adjustments) emphasizing what feels right for each individual rather than striving for an idealized version of poses. Each class addresses balance, core strength, the six motions of the spine, and those parts of the body that remain short and compressed by habitual patterns and gravity. The final 10 minutes are devoted to meditation/savasana, with a wide variety of optional meditation techniques offered over time. Pranayama (conscious awareness of breath) is also included.
This class is for those with years of experience, as well as those new to asana and Yoga. The ultimate aim of Yoga goes way beyond the body and asanas. Yoga is about connecting with your higher self.
