Painting Acadia 3-day Watercolor Workshop with Guest Artist - Erica Qualey - Aug 2022 Time to dig out your paint brushes and get those creative juices flowing! Whether you are new to watercolor or already familiar with the basics, this course can teach you something new and help push your paintings to the next level. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 9:00am - 3:00pm August 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 2022 ArtWaves 1345A Hwy 102 Bar Harbor To Register: https://artwavesmdi.org/event-4803289 $330 for a 3-day workshop ($320 for members) Adults of all skill levels Watercolor is a spontaneous medium that is always full of surprises and can be a joy to work with. During this three-day course we will split our time between studio work and painting on location in the beautiful Acadia area. On our first day we will dive into technique and cover all of the fundamentals, as well as how to push this medium (and maybe yourself!) into new exciting places. During the next two days we will spend mornings creating sketches and small studies on location and afternoons in the studio reworking and developing our morning observations. Participants will be encouraged to push themselves, experimenting and playfully searching for happy accidents that will help grow a deeper understanding of the medium and free you from painting tentatively. My hope is for everyone to gain confidence and joy in their paintings through what we learn in this class. Masks, vax'd (over 5), and distancing for staff and participant safety. About the instructor: Erica Qualey lives in mid-coast Maine and works as a watercolor artist and illustrator and received her BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology. She has exhibited in Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire and is represented in private collections throughout the United States and Canada. Recently, one of her paintings has been selected to be published in Splash 19, a yearly publication of watercolor paintings from North America. She has lead workshops for adults at Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, ArtWaves MDI on Mount Desert Island, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deere Isle, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, and other art associations. She has participated in visiting artist programs in public schools and has run art programming for children at Skidompha Library.
