In this workshop students will use salvaged vintage books to create their own poetry through deconstruction and construction by using a focal "anchor word" and illustration. Readers will carefully select words that resonate with themselves on a personal level and then form a relatable drawing around their poem, infusing art into poetry. The combination of the these two artistic disciplines is what enhances the work.
This workshop will focus on reading, study, hunting and gathering of words, articulation, patience and gumption to recreate using a limited amount of words, yet learning to rearrange and truly think outside the box. Sometimes the most complex things can be created through the simplest of means. This is for poetry and book lovers alike. All reading ages are welcome.
