Mat Pilates Express Class
Mara trained extensively in New York City and achieved Certified Instructor status in early 2003 from Joseph Pilates’ protégé, Master Instructor Romana Kryzanowska. Mara secured a second comprehensive certification in 2008 from Stott Pilates, a contemporary, anatomically-based approach to Joseph Pilates’ original method incorporating modern exercise principles to promote spinal rehabilitation and overall performance enhancement. These certifications enable her to work with clients across a broad spectrum, from injury rehabilitation through competitive athletes. Mara has a passion for helping others to improve their physical awareness and quality of life through the application of intentional, controlled movement. This mat pilates class will incorporate all the key principles of Pilates such as postural alignment, breathing, strength, controlled movement and flexibility.
When it’s just you and your mat you learn how to focus on your unique body, listening to it’s messages, and trusting what you hear to gain confidence in how best to move. Specific cueing guides you to feel the perfect balance of challenge while deepening your mind-body connection through breath and ease of movement.
