Join field ornithologist Seth Benz for this exploration along the forested edge of the ocean. It provides shelter and food for migratory songbirds and an excellent vantage point to look for near-shore waterfowl. The Ship Harbor Nature Trail is an undulating path with spruce tree roots and shoreline boulders, both requiring attention to foot placement. Nearly 200 species of birds have been documented here, making it a national park hotspot. Crossbills to gannets, kinglets to sea ducks – all await you. Bring binoculars; a spotting scope will be provided. Binoculars are available to borrow from the Gilley with advance notice; make a note in the comments section when you sign up. Be sure to dress in layers suitable for the weather. Group size is limited to 14. Meet at Ship Harbor Nature Trail.
