DESCRIPTION:Students from the Conners Emerson School have spent the past six weeks learning about storytelling with New York Times-bestselling author Carrie Jones. Join these talented students as they debut their tales at an author event at the Jesup Memorial Library on Thursday\, Feb. 28 at 3:30 p.m. \n\n \n\nJones's award-winning fiction has been translated into multiple languages\, and ended up on both New York Times and international best sellers' lists. She received the Independent Book Publisher's Award for her first novel\, Maine Literary Awards and multiple press awards\, as well as landing on multiple best book lists. Writing across genres\, Carrie was also an award-winning newspaper editor\, columnist and photographer\, received a MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts\, and was awarded the honor of Distinguished Alum. \n\n \n\nThe Write Stuff is a collaborative program between Conners Emerson School\, MDI High School\, and the Jesup Memorial Library. The program is designed to help kids become storytellers in three different ways\, orally\, in writing and through poetry. \n\n \n\nThere are three more The Write Stuff storytelling workshops for students coming up in the next few months. There will be a workshop about poetry and improv with Nicole Cardano beginning on Thurs.\, March 7 at Conners Emerson. The public poetry performance is scheduled on Thurs.\, April 25 at 3:30 p.m. at the Jesup. There will also be two\, three-week workshops for all high school-aged students\, one that focuses on oral storytelling with Andrew Simon beginning on Tues. Feb. 5 at MDI High School and another about prose writing with Carrie Jones starting on Tues. March 19 also at the high school.
