DESCRIPTION:A WONDERFUL WAY TO HONOR YOUR LOVED ONES   JOIN US FOR THE ANNUAL LUMINARIA LIGHTING The 20th Annual Carol Dyer Memorial Luminaria Evening is taking place on Saturday\, August 14th\, from 7 - 9:30 pm on the Bar Harbor Village Green with a rain date set for August 21st. The event is sponsored by YWCA Mount Desert Island. Luminarias are candles placed in personalized bags that can be decorated by you or by us and are dedicated to those lost to and those living with cancer. Each bag represents a life and the hope for a cancer-free world. Hundreds of luminarias will be placed along the Village Green paths\, lighting up the night in a beautiful and moving display. Each person's name and hometown will be announced during the ceremony by volunteer MC\, Chris Popper of WDEA AM 1370. Live music will be provided by Alice French. You can purchase a bag to honor a cancer survivor or to remember someone who has lost their battle. To pre-order luminarias online\, please visit donate.ywcamdi.org/luminaria-purchase/. Proceeds from this event will go to Island Connections which provides free transportation to doctor and chemotherapy appointments\, provides meal deliveries and other services to seniors and people with disabilities to enhance independence and quality of life.
