DESCRIPTION:Because national parks are large and protected\, they are uniquely valuable experimental sites. Schoodic Institute's public-private partnership with Acadia National Park provides a laboratory for research to study environmental problems. It also offers an opportunity to enhance science literacy and environmental stewardship among the hundreds of millions who visit the park each year. In this month's Science Caf \, Don Kent\, Ph.D.\, President and CEO at the Schoodic Institute\, will discuss how partnerships and collaboration provide a unique opportunity to solve complex environmental challenges.\n\nThe location of this MDI Science Caf  is the Maine Center for Biomedical Innovation at the MDI Biological Laboratory\, located at 159 Old Bar Harbor Rd in Salisbury Cove\, Maine.\n\nDoors open at 4:30 p.m.\n\nYou may pre-register for this event. A paper confirmation is not needed for entry.\n\nMDI Science Caf s are offered in fulfillment of the institution's mission to promote scientific literacy and increase public engagement with science. The popular events offer a chance to hear directly from speakers about trends in science. Short presentations delivered in everyday language are followed by lively\, informal discussion.
