DESCRIPTION:Landscape Embroidery: Felt Flags with Emma Murray Mondays\, May 12 & 19\, 5PM - 7PM\, Kaleidoscope Studio Learn the art of landscape embroidery and stitch your own beloved landscape onto a beautiful wool felt flag! We'll start with the basics of embroidery\, from choosing colors to threading your needle and tying your knots\, then move into how to depict light and topography with thread. You'll come away with a finished or mostly-finished wall hanging and the skillset to create bigger pieces utilizing this slow\, meditative\, calming medium. You're welcome to bring some images\, printed or on your phone\, of a landscape you love\, or you're welcome to use one of the inspiration images I'll provide. The class will take place over two two-hour sessions: Monday\, May 12\, 2025\, 5PM - 7PM Monday\, May 19\, 2025\, 5PM - 7PM All materials included in the $15 materials fee. About the Instructor: Emma Mary Murray (she/her) is an artist\, educator\, and writer based on Mount Desert Island. Originally from Maine\, she studied poetry and education at Colorado College and has built a diverse career spanning environmental education\, marketing for outdoor industry non-profits\, and elementary teaching. Her current focus is bringing creative ideas to life and sharing them with the community. Passionate about the intersections of education\, art\, writing\, and the environment\, she enjoys exploring projects that blend these disciplines. She is also deeply committed to fostering mentorship and connection in outdoor spaces. Beyond her work\, Emma enjoys writing\, reading\, climbing\, skiing\, and spending time with her dog\, Hatchy. She never turns down a competitive game of Bananagrams.
