DESCRIPTION:Join pianist Janet Pearson as she plays some of George Gershwin's greatest compositions! From An American in Paris to Funny Face\, Gershwin has provided some of the stage and screen's most iconic numbers. You'll be tapping your toe and even may find yourself humming along! Janet will also be reuniting with violinist Nathan Lesser for 3 songs from Porgy and Bess!\n\nTickets are $25 at the door. Concert will be held at the stage in the Moore Center.\n\nPianist Janet Pearson began the study of piano at age five. At the age of thirteen she performed the Piano Concerto in G Minor by Felix Mendelssohn with the Spokane Junior Philharmonic. She was a music major at the University of Washington\, Seattle\, as a student of Madam Poncey-Jacobson. In 1979 she earned a Master of Music in Performance degree from Temple University in Philadelphia\, and went on to study with Eleanor Sokoloff of the Curtis Institute of Music. She performed regularly as a soloist and a member of the Montgomery Trio. She was a member of the faculty for ten years at the Settlement Music School of Philadelphia. She also taught in her own studio for nearly thirty years. She and her husband\, Jim\, moved to Surry in 1999. Since living in Maine\, Janet has performed in solo and chamber music concerts to benefit local organizations. Janet has also been a member of Neckolodians and the Appena Trio.
