SUMMARY:INTRODUCTION TO WORKING WITH EARTHENWARE CLAY
DESCRIPTION:INTRODUCTION TO WORKING WITH EARTHENWARE CLAY\n\n\n\nIn this two part workshop\, students will learn hand building slab construction techniques. Together we will construct 2 types of forms. We will start with an altered cylinder vase form. Followed by a vessel formed and constructed with slabs of clay. Our teacher will provide all the tools needed. Your pieces will fully dry and be bisqued fired by our instructor. On Wednesday\, students will then glaze their bisque fired pieces with provided glazes. The instructor will then glaze fire all pieces and the completed pieces will be available for the student to pick up on the following Saturday.\n\n\n\nMeet the Artist:\n\n\n\nSusan Keller is a ceramic artist and studio potter working for 25 years. Her pieces are one-of-a-kind functional wares\, hand formed with highly patterned and boldly colored surfaces. Her studio practice is in San Antonio\, Texas. She graduated from Texas State with a BFA in ceramics. She makes pieces for in person shows\, galleries\, wholesale clients\, and retail.\n\nSusan Keller is an ArtWaves Artist in Residence.
