DESCRIPTION:ugust 3 to 6\, 2020 (Monday to Thursday) Are you interested in painting in oil? You'll get a solid foundation and an understanding of Oil Painting basics in this intensive four-day workshop at ArtWaves. This course is open to people taking Oil Painting for the first time\, those returning after time away\, and those who feel that their technical skills might benefit from revisiting the basics. We will cover color mixing in depth\, methods of paint application\, understanding the use of materials and proper studio practices\, while covering some of the fundamental exercises that form the basis for developing a sound practice in painting with oil. Cost: $375 ArtWaves members\; $385 nonmembers Materials: Titanium White\, yellow ochre\, cadmium yellow light\, Rembrandt Permanent Madder Deep\, Rembrandt Phthalo Blue Red\, ivory black\, Turpenoid or odorless solvent for brush cleaning\, paper towels\, nitrile (or similar) gloves. And a few #4 and #6 natural bristle flat brushes\, disposable or other palette\, palette knife. Canvas Pad\, 10 Sheets 14"   18" or similar\, a drawing board for your sheets of canvas may also be helpful. Easels are provided but if you have a portable easel that you like\, you are welcome to bring it. Instructor Bio: A founding instructor at ArtWaves\, Bar Harbor artist Robert Pollien is a faculty member at the University of Maine. He holds an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Rob is a local artist\, teacher and a former Acadia National Park Artist in Residence.
