DESCRIPTION:Abstraction of the Portrait\, Painting from Life in Oils with Barbara In this course we will explore the abstraction of the human face as a means for communicating ideas and emotions. We will begin with the basic anatomy of the face\, then learn to conceptualize facial planes and alter the presentation of features for a psychological effect. Other topics covered will include oil painting techniques\, as well as the use of value\, color and form. Saturday April 9th\, 2022 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm ArtWaves 1345A Hwy 102 Bar Harbor 207-266-0010 To Register: https://artwavesmdi.org/event-4759508 $60 ($50 for members) Teens/Adults of all skill levels Each student will paint from life and finish the course with an artistic rendering of their own face. Bring your own oil painting supplies\, or use what ArtWaves has to share. Masks\, vax'd (over 5)\, and distancing for staff and participant safety. About the Instructor: ArtWaves' April Artist-in-Residence - Barbara Grise is a multimedia artist and timber-framer by trade. She enjoys working in oil paint\, clay\, metal\, marble and wood. Her favorite subject matter is the human form. When she's not in the studio\, you might find her in the forest\, hiking with her dog.
